 Brian Mintz

Brian Mintz earned second team Birmingham News All-State honors as a senior at Southside High School in Gadsden following the 1980 football season. He played quarterback for Southside.

Mintz also played football at Jacksonville State, earning two letters in 1982-83. He graduated from JSU in 1985, and again in 1991 with a Masters Degree.

His coaching career started and ended at Ragland High School. In 1988 he was named the head football coach at Ragland where he remained for three seasons before moving over to the head coaching position at Glencoe in 1991.

His six teams at Glencoe went 36-33 with three playoff appearances and two region titles. In 1997 Mintz returned to his alma mater, Southside, for four years before moving back to Ragland.

In 2004, Mintz returned to coach the Purple Devils where he enjoyed the most success during his coaching tenure. He led Ragland to the state playoffs in each of his eight years at the school. His 2011 team finished 13-1 record in his final season with the school before retiring from the field.

Westbrook Christian came calling in 2017 and Coach Mintz returned to the field as their head football coach.

Coach Mintz is a member of the St. Clair County Sports Hall of Fame.
